Scarlet Macaw- Ara macao
Its distribution is discontinuous and comprises the southern Mexico until Panama, North Colombia, and East of Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Amazon Brazil central to East of Bolivia.
It is found in humid forest from the Mainland (No swampy), Gallery forest, deciduous and moderately dry, until the 500 m.
Gregarious and can be grouped with other macaws.
It nests during the dry period, between December and March in hollows of trees with relatively soft wood or in steep areas.

Large (80-96 cm.). Striking by its Scarlet red coloration; tricolor wings (conspicuous Red, yellow in the middle and blue intense at the ends), rump and base of the blue tail. With face naked, cream and without feathers.
These macaws feed mainly on fruits , nuts and seeds.
