The Longhair Japanese Bobtail is a natural variant of the Shorthair japanese bobtail.
This breed of Long hair bobtail, sociable and curious, it is very small. On a global scale, very few breed it since the gene for long hair is masked when short-haired cats are mated with long-haired cats., and by the lack of long-haired cats, mating them exclusively with each other could lead to severe inbreeding.
It was not recognized by the CFA (Association of amateurs of cats) until 1993, while the TICA considers it a feline breed in its own right.
