The Hound Spanish It is a tracking dog breed originating in the northern end of the Iberian Peninsula, included in Group VI of the classification of the Federation Cynologique Internationale.

It has been being used in these regions for centuries for the hunting of all kinds of animal hair: wild boar, Hare, bear, Wolf, Deer, Fox, Roe deer and chamois. It's a race exclusively for work, dedicated to hunting with firearms.

"The first description of hounds peninsular appears in the"Alfonso XI Montería book”, King of Castile, written during the second half of the s. XIV, in his chapter 39 "speaks of"which doneness should be the hounds and the sabuesas”.

Subsequently various descriptions of Iberian hounds appear in successive treaties of hunting Spanish 15th, 16Th and 17TH: “Tratado of the Montería“,3 “Speech of the Monteria“4 u “Origin and dignity Caça“.

During these centuries the hounds Spanish (We say by having been born in Spain Spanish, not because those dogs were a faithful reflection of the current breed hound Spanish) were used in the hunt for the bear and wild boar in the hunting of Montería. Its use as a dog's blood was very widespread among los monteros dedicated to the art of the crossbows. As firearms and hunting were widespread was declining, the use of the hound in the North of Spain was drifting towards the younger hunt, to the hunting of the Hare “on the return”, but also it has continued being used without interruption in the hunt for wild boar and Roe deer.
